Terms of Service & EULA
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and the operator of CommandLatch (defined below). They also serve as the End User License Agreement (EULA) for the CommandLatch applications. By creating an account, installing or using the macOS agent, the iOS app, the web dashboard, or the command-line tool, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use CommandLatch.
Effective date: 2026-06-24
1. Who we are (the operator)
Section titled “1. Who we are (the operator)”CommandLatch is operated by an individual sole operator (a natural person; not a registered company — Imprint per § 5 DDG):
- Adrian Filipow
- Tannenwaldweg 100B, 61350 Bad Homburg, Germany
- Support:
support@commandlatch.app - Privacy:
privacy@commandlatch.app - Imprint contact (fallback):
adrianfilipow@outlook.de
In these Terms, “we”, “us”, “our” and “the operator” mean Adrian Filipow. “You” means the person using CommandLatch.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
Section titled “2. Acceptance of these Terms”You accept these Terms when you create an account, sign in, install or run any CommandLatch application or the CLI, or otherwise use the service. If you use CommandLatch on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for that organization.
3. Eligibility and age
Section titled “3. Eligibility and age”You must be at least 16 years old to use CommandLatch (the digital-services age threshold under German and EU law). CommandLatch is a productivity tool for controlling your own computers; it is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 16. If you are a minor under applicable law, you may use CommandLatch only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms.
4. What CommandLatch is (the service)
Section titled “4. What CommandLatch is (the service)”CommandLatch is a safe remote-action agent for computers you own or are authorized to control. It lets you trigger a fixed set of safe actions — for example: lock, sleep, lock-and-sleep, keep awake (and cancel keep awake), mute/unmute, volume up/down, play/pause media, send a notification, cancel a pending lock, and send an alert to your iPhone — from the web dashboard, the iOS app, Siri Shortcuts, a webhook, or the command-line tool.
The device/agent model. To control a Mac, you install the CommandLatch agent (the macOS menu-bar app or the CLI) on that Mac and pair it to your account. Pairing uses a short, single-use setup code; once paired, the Mac holds a device-specific token (stored only on that Mac) that authorizes it to fetch and run the actions you queue. CommandLatch never provides a remote shell, file access, or screen access. It can only run the predefined safe actions listed above. You can unpair or remove a device at any time, which revokes its access.
Your responsibilities. You are responsible for:
- keeping the machines you pair, and the credentials on them, secure;
- the actions you trigger and their consequences (for example, locking or sleeping a Mac during an unsaved task);
- only pairing and controlling machines you are entitled to control (see §7);
- maintaining a compatible operating system and a working network connection; and
- keeping your sign-in email account secure, since sign-in is by one-time code to that address.
CommandLatch is a convenience and automation tool. It is not a safety, security-monitoring, medical, or emergency service, and must not be relied on as one.
5. Accounts and email sign-in (one-time code)
Section titled “5. Accounts and email sign-in (one-time code)”CommandLatch accounts are passwordless. You sign in with your email address and a one-time numeric code (OTP) we email to you; there is no password to set or remember. You are responsible for the security of the email inbox you use, because anyone who can read that inbox can request a sign-in code. Keep your email address accurate so codes and important service notices reach you. We may suspend or limit sign-in attempts to protect against abuse.
You can delete your account at any time, directly in the app: open Settings →
Delete account and confirm. Deletion is immediate and permanent — it
irreversibly removes your account and all associated data, including your paired
devices, command history, device tokens, support tickets, and subscription
records. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription
you purchased through Apple In-App Purchase; cancel that separately in your Apple
ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). A web/Stripe subscription is
cancelled automatically as part of the deletion. You can also request deletion by
emailing privacy@commandlatch.app.
6. License grant (this section is the EULA)
Section titled “6. License grant (this section is the EULA)”Subject to your compliance with these Terms, the operator grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, limited license to:
- install and use the CommandLatch macOS agent and the CLI on Macs you own or are authorized to control;
- install and use the CommandLatch iOS app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services / App Store Terms (the “Usage Rules”); and
- access and use the web dashboard,
solely for your own use of the service and in accordance with these Terms. For the iOS app, this license is the Licensed Application end user license described in §10, and it governs your use of the app.
You may not, except where applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction: copy (other than as needed for normal use), modify, translate, or create derivative works of the applications; reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble them; rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, or otherwise transfer the license or the applications; remove or alter any proprietary notices; or use the service to build a competing product. The software is licensed, not sold, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved by the operator.
7. Acceptable use
Section titled “7. Acceptable use”You agree to use CommandLatch lawfully and only as intended. In particular:
- Only your own or authorized machines. You may only pair, and send commands to, computers you own or are otherwise authorized to control. Do not pair or attempt to control a machine you are not entitled to control. Using CommandLatch to access or interfere with another person’s or organization’s computer without authorization is strictly prohibited and may be unlawful.
- No unlawful, harmful, or abusive use. Do not use CommandLatch to violate any law; to harass, harm, defraud, or deceive anyone; to send unlawful, abusive, or infringing notification/alert content; to disrupt or overload the service or its infrastructure; to circumvent the safe-action model or any security or rate limit; or to gain unauthorized access to any system, account, or data.
- No misuse of automation credentials. Keep your shortcut, webhook, and device tokens secret; do not share them or use them to trigger actions on machines you are not authorized to control.
We may investigate suspected violations and may suspend or terminate access for conduct that breaches this section (see §13).
8. Subscriptions and billing — CommandLatch Pro
Section titled “8. Subscriptions and billing — CommandLatch Pro”CommandLatch offers a paid plan, CommandLatch Pro, at 6 USD per month (billed monthly), with a 7-day free trial. Prices are stated exclusive of any applicable taxes unless shown otherwise at the point of purchase; the price shown at purchase is the price that applies. The trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends. You can buy Pro through two billing paths, depending on the surface you use.
8a. Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) — auto-renewable subscription disclosures
Section titled “8a. Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) — auto-renewable subscription disclosures”When you subscribe to CommandLatch Pro through the iOS app, the purchase is an auto-renewable subscription processed by Apple, and the following disclosures apply, as required by Apple:
- Title: CommandLatch Pro.
- Price and billing period: 6 USD per month (monthly), after a 7-day free trial. Prices may be shown in your local currency and may vary by region as set in App Store Connect.
- Auto-renewal: the subscription automatically renews for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- When you are charged: payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase (and, for renewals, within 24 hours before the end of the current period).
- Free trial: any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription, where applicable.
- Manage or cancel: you can manage or cancel your subscription, or turn off auto-renewal, in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) after purchase.
Apple’s terms govern the Apple-side payment, refunds, and billing relationship. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies.
8b. Web / Stripe billing (web dashboard and macOS)
Section titled “8b. Web / Stripe billing (web dashboard and macOS)”If you subscribe through the web dashboard (which also entitles the macOS app), billing is processed by Stripe. The subscription is 6 USD per month, after a 7-day free trial, and renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time using the clearly-labelled cancellation button in the billing area of the web dashboard (“Verträge hier kündigen” / “Cancel contracts here”), as required by §312k BGB — reachable directly, leading to a confirmation page, with no extra hurdles. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep Pro access until then. You authorize us, via Stripe, to charge your chosen payment method for each renewal. Your statutory right of withdrawal for the digital subscription is described in §12.
One entitlement. Pro is a single entitlement tied to your account. Buying Pro
on one surface unlocks it across your CommandLatch surfaces, and we take steps to
make sure you are not charged twice: if you already have an active web/Stripe
subscription, the iOS app recognizes it and does not offer an Apple purchase;
and a subscription bought on iOS is likewise recognized on the web. In the rare
event you do end up charged on both, contact support@commandlatch.app and we
will refund the duplicate.
9. Free trial
Section titled “9. Free trial”The 7-day free trial gives you Pro features at no charge for the trial period. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription at the price and on the billing path described in §8. You may use a trial only as genuinely offered; we may limit trials to prevent abuse.
10. Apple Licensed Application EULA — minimum terms
Section titled “10. Apple Licensed Application EULA — minimum terms”This section applies only to the CommandLatch app obtained from Apple’s App Store and supplements the rest of these Terms. To the extent it conflicts with anything else here for that app, this section controls for the App Store app.
- Acknowledgement. These Terms are concluded between you and the operator (Adrian Filipow) only, and not with Apple. The operator, not Apple, is solely responsible for the CommandLatch app and its content.
- Scope of license. The license granted in §6 for the iOS app is limited to a non-transferable license to use the app on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that it may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing where applicable.
- Maintenance and support. The operator is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for the app.
- Warranty. The operator is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the app’s purchase price (if any) to you; to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to any warranty are the operator’s responsibility. Your statutory consumer warranty rights under §11 are unaffected.
- Product claims. The operator, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app or your possession and/or use of it, including: product-liability claims; any claim that the app fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; claims arising under consumer-protection, privacy, or similar legislation; and claims with respect to intellectual-property infringement.
- Intellectual property. In the event of any third-party claim that the app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, the operator, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You agree to comply with all applicable third-party terms when using the app, and with all applicable U.S. and other export-control laws.
- Developer contact. Questions, complaints, or claims regarding the app should
be directed to the operator at
support@commandlatch.app. - Third-party beneficiary. You acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple’s subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms as they relate to your license to the iOS app, and that, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary of the license to the iOS app.
11. Warranty and liability
Section titled “11. Warranty and liability”These Terms are written for consumers under German and EU law. Nothing in them limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.
Statutory warranty (consumers). For consumers, your statutory warranty rights (Gewährleistung) apply in full and are not excluded or shortened. The service and applications are provided to perform materially as described.
Liability. The operator is liable without limitation:
- for intent and gross negligence;
- for injury to life, body, or health;
- under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz); and
- to the extent the operator has given a guarantee or fraudulently concealed a defect.
For slight (ordinary) negligence, the operator is liable only for the breach of essential contractual duties — duties whose fulfillment makes proper performance of the contract possible at all and on whose observance you may regularly rely (so-called cardinal duties). In that case, liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Any further liability for slight negligence is excluded.
The above limitations also apply to the personal liability of the operator’s representatives, employees, and agents, with the same exceptions for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and claims under the Produkthaftungsgesetz set out above. CommandLatch is provided for ordinary consumer use; given its nature as a convenience tool that triggers actions on your own machines, you remain responsible for safeguarding unsaved work and for the consequences of the actions you choose to trigger.
12. Right of withdrawal (Widerrufsrecht)
Section titled “12. Right of withdrawal (Widerrufsrecht)”If you are a consumer, you have a statutory right to withdraw from the Pro subscription contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is 14 days from the day the contract is concluded.
How to exercise it. To exercise the right of withdrawal you must inform us
(Adrian Filipow, Tannenwaldweg 100B, 61350 Bad Homburg, Germany; email
support@commandlatch.app) by means of a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by
post or an email) of your decision to withdraw from this contract. You may use the
model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. To meet the withdrawal
deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your
exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired. If
you withdraw in time and the exception below does not apply, we will refund the
payments we received from you for the affected period without undue delay.
Digital service / starting the service early. CommandLatch Pro is a continuous (recurring) digital service. If you ask us to begin providing the Pro service during the 14-day withdrawal period — for example, by activating Pro features right away — you (a) expressly consent to that early start and (b) acknowledge that you will owe a proportionate amount for the service actually provided up to the point you withdraw (§357 Abs. 8 BGB). You lose your right of withdrawal only once we have fully performed the contract and you gave that prior express consent and acknowledgement and we confirmed it to you on a durable medium (§356 Abs. 5, §312f BGB). For an ongoing monthly subscription, full performance does not normally occur within the 14-day period, so your right of withdrawal generally remains available during those 14 days (subject only to the pro-rata amount above).
During a free trial, no charge is made, so withdrawing during the trial costs you nothing; the priced period begins only after the trial ends. Purchases made through Apple are also subject to Apple’s own refund process.
Model withdrawal form (Muster-Widerrufsformular). (Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract — Anlage 2 to Art. 246a §1 Abs. 2 EGBGB.)
To Adrian Filipow, Tannenwaldweg 100B, 61350 Bad Homburg, Germany, email
support@commandlatch.app:— I/We (*) hereby give notice that I/We (*) withdraw from my/our (*) contract for the supply of the following service (*): CommandLatch Pro subscription — Ordered on (*)/received on (*): ______ — Name of consumer(s): ______ — Address of consumer(s): ______ — Signature of consumer(s) (only if this form is notified on paper): ______ — Date: ______
(*) Delete as appropriate.
Paid-checkout button labelling (§312j Abs. 3 BGB). For the paid (Stripe) checkout, the order button is labelled “zahlungspflichtig bestellen” (“order with obligation to pay”) so it is clear that placing the order entails an obligation to pay.
13. Termination and suspension
Section titled “13. Termination and suspension”You may stop using CommandLatch at any time, unpair your devices, cancel your subscription (§8), and request account deletion (§5). We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms (including the Acceptable Use section), if required by law, or if necessary to protect the service or other users — proportionately and, where reasonable and lawful, with notice and an opportunity to cure. On termination, the license in §6 ends and you must stop using the applications; sections that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, liability, governing law) survive. Termination does not affect refund or withdrawal rights you have under §11 or §12.
14. Intellectual property
Section titled “14. Intellectual property”CommandLatch, its applications, source, design, logos, and brand are owned by the operator and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you only the limited license in §6 and no other rights. Feedback you choose to send us may be used to improve the product without obligation to you.
15. Third-party services and sub-processors
Section titled “15. Third-party services and sub-processors”CommandLatch relies on third-party infrastructure providers (for example, hosting, database/authentication, analytics, payment, email, and push delivery) to provide the service. These providers process data on our behalf as described in the Privacy Policy and the Sub-processors list. Your use of CommandLatch through Apple’s App Store and devices is also subject to Apple’s applicable terms.
16. Changes to these Terms
Section titled “16. Changes to these Terms”We may update these Terms — for example, to reflect new features, legal requirements, or changes to our providers. If a change is material, we will give reasonable advance notice by a suitable means (such as email to your account address or an in-product notice) before it takes effect, and, where the law requires it, give you the right to reject the change and terminate. The version published here at any time is the current version; the effective date is shown at the top. Your continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms, except where the law requires your explicit consent.
17. Consumer dispute resolution (§36 VSBG)
Section titled “17. Consumer dispute resolution (§36 VSBG)”We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute-resolution
proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (Verbraucherschlichtungsstelle)
within the meaning of the Verbraucherstreitbeilegungsgesetz (VSBG). We are happy
to try to resolve any issue directly — please contact us first at
support@commandlatch.app.
(The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform was discontinued on 20 July 2025 and is no longer referenced.)
18. Governing law and contact
Section titled “18. Governing law and contact”These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence. Mandatory consumer-protection rules and the jurisdiction rules that apply to consumers remain unaffected.
